10/12/2012 - St. Michael

FOR THE MEN IN YOUR LIFE

My image of St. Michael is that of a warrior. In todays times, St. Michael's physical image may resemble that of WWE's John Cena or King Leonidis, protrayed by Gerard Butler in the movie "300". Strong, cut, in shape and ready for battle at all times.

A couple of years ago a buddy of mine introduced me to The Chaplet of St. Michael. I have meditated on this prayer, and it has strengthened my faith in God. I've shared this chaplet with many of my fellow brothers in Christ. Together we have a mutual understanding that prayer is essential to spiritual growth.

I encourage you to forward this email of the chaplet to your son, your husband, or close male friend. The chaplet is not intended specifically for men only, so don't limit yourself to just the male figures in your life. The purpose of the email is to encourage men to continue in their faith journey, battling along the way the obstacles that hinder our growth.

STAND FIRM!
"...be strong and immovable, always working enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless". 1Cor 15:58

Thank you for making time for me.

A quick note regarding formal prayers from the Catechism Of The Catholic Church:
CCC2688 - The catechesis of children, young people, and adults aims at teaching them to meditate on the Word of God in personal prayer, practicing it in liturgical prayer, and internalizing it at all times in order to bear fruit in a new life. Catechesis is also a time for the discernment and education of popular piety.46 The memorization of basic prayers offers an essential support to the life of prayer, but it is important to help learners savor their meaning.

Thanks to the music Group "RODEO" for recording one of my songs on their latest album.  The song is called "GRAN AMOR", sung by fromtman Joey Martinez.  Joey and I were in the band MIRADAS years ago.  It always great to hear your songs on the radio and interpreted by other artists.

"There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every affair under the heavens." Ecclesiastes 3:1

Good News!

The scripture passage in Ecclesiastes reigns true for this ministry today.

Ben Apolinar music has been invited to be a part of the "EXTREME TOUR" for 2012. They are calling the details of the tour, "THE OBJECTIVE" and will be held in Nashville, TN May 6-9. I will be attending this event.

This is a discernment process for both the "EXTREME TOUR" and myself. It is a huge opportunity and my wife Priscilla and I have been praying about this since we first got the news last weekend. Only select artists are invited to this event. It is a week of training and discernment, to find out if I am a good fit for this tour, and if the tour will be a good fit for me.

Unlike a band trying to make it big in the music industry, my goal is larger, my mission greater. Through this tour we will be bringing hope to the masses, through Jesus' real though invisible presence.

Jesus said, "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” Matt 28:19-20

At this appointed time, I am asking for your support in this effort two ways:

1. FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION:
Consider a sponsorship today to help defray the cost of the four days of informational training in Nashville. The costs is approximately $1,000.00. This includes flight, food and lodging. You can make a contribution through the website, you will need to create a PAYPAL account, or you can mail a check to the address below. Your contribution, large or small, will make a huge difference.

Ben Apolinar
1310 28th Avenue North
Texas City, TX 77590
MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO BEN APOLINAR MUSIC

2. PRAYER COMMITTMENT:
I understand some of you are unable to provide financial support at this time. Consider another committment. That is, the committment to pray for me and the other artists at this event during that week as this opportunity unfolds. This ministry has just moved into a larger arena, and so requires prayer and wisdom to make the decisions we are ready for.

Thank you so much for your financial & prayerful committments. I look forward to hearing from you.

God's Blessings!

On behalf of Music Resource Group, The IMAs, and our distinguished judging panelists, it is our pleasure to congratulate Ben Apolinar on being nominated in the Contemporary Christian Album Category for "FIRM" in The 11th Independent Music Awards.

To help you and all our Nominees connect with new fans and revenue opportunities, The IMA program has a number of high profile marketing initiatives in the works.

So as you’re popping champagne corks & basking in your hard-earned accomplishment, rest-assured we're working feverishly behind the scenes to ensure that this announcement is just the start of what will be an exciting year for all of our IMA artists.

Kicking off the marketing activities is the launch of The IMA Vox Pop Jukebox. We will actively push music fans and industry gatekeepers from around the globe here to discover and support all of this year’s Nominees.

While the results of this fan-determined portion of the program will not affect the judge’s final decisions, these Vox Pop Winners will benefit from additional IMA marketing efforts.

So send your fans, family, press, etc. to:
http://www.independentmusicawards.com/imanominee/11th/Album/Contemporary-Christian to cast their votes for your nominated work, and to discover other great new artists.

Also, be on the lookout for additional Nominee materials that will need your immediate attention so we can really begin promoting your IMA honors!

All of us on The IMA team are delighted to have the opportunity to promote your exceptional work to a wider audience. And we’ll be in touch shortly with more details about planned marketing initiatives on your behalf.

AUDITIONS - are now open to experienced players interested in being a part of this ministry.  We are auditioning Lead Guitar Players, Drummer/Percussionist, Keyboard/Piano Player and a Bass player.   You may know a great musician.  Have them leave me a message through this website.

TOUR - I have partnered with
EXTREME TOUR 2012 and will be making as many apperances as possible this year.  Hopefully somewhere near you.

EWTN - I have made contact with Dana Scallion with Dana & Friends and are working on meeting everyones schedule to get to this as soon as we can.  I'll will keep you posted on this.

ADORATION HOUR - My adoration hour does not change.  It is alway on Wednesday morning at 1:00a.m.  You may leave a prayer request and I'll keep you in prayer during this hour.  Expect a miracle.  Our God is a generous God.

BOOKING - I are booking dates for 2012.  Make sure your retreat coordinators, parish priests, youth ministers, and the like consider this music ministry for your next youth or adult retreat.

Finally, thanks to all of you for your prayer or financial support of this ministry.  I am appreciative of all your efforts.

EWTN:
Thanks for all the inquiries regarding the EWTN Appearance in Alabama.  Our show was postponed since the host of the show, DANA SCALLION, was nominated as a presidential candidate of Ireland.  We were excited to hear that good news and bummed because of the hype we have put into our appearance on her show.  To date we have not heard of a recheduled date, only that it may early next year.

We are thankful unto the Lord for creating this opportunity even though it has not come to fruition.  We are thankful someone at that level noticed the work of this ministry.  We are humbled by that.

ACTS RETREAT:
We had our Mens Acts Retreat in October and, WOW what an awesome GOD we worship.  There is healing, love, power and growth in the spirit among these men.  We are broken in many ways, but thankful GOD is able to make us whole, one day at a time, one challenge at a time.

LIFE STUDIES - FOLLOW UP MEETINGS:
We have been meeting for four (4) weeks now.  Twenty (25) men attend our Life Studies class.  It is amazing how much collective wisdom floats around the room.  There's something to be said about friendships built on Christ's foundation.  It is a forged friendship unlike any other.  Along with the prayer and spirituality, there are real life conversations that challenge our faith.  When brought to light in that room, the challenges seem to be minute knowing other men are praying for you and may share in your struggle as well.

GIVING THANKS:
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his mercy endures forever. Psalm 106:1b

You may have your own list of people to be thankful for.  Here are mine.

I am thankful for:
My wife Priscilla
My Daughters, Elizabeth & Kathryn
My Son, Benjamin
My Grandsons, Samuel Sebastian & Xavier Lee
My Son In Law Carl
My Mom, Mary
My Sisters, Mary Ann, Rachel, Sylvia, Patricia, Delores
My Extended Family, The O'Briens, Kerns, Mistretta's
My Parish Family at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal
My musician brothers and sisters, Bobby, Harold, Zack, Teri, Josh, Dennis, Paul, Ricky, Eddie, Mickey, Julia, Alfred, Marcos & Pilo, Michael & Ron, Jeff, Cody Guy & Cody Lee, OJ, Docia.

There are things that I am thankful for, but they are just things.  My relationship with people is most important to me.

Thank you Jesus for these.

Great show at MOD in Galveston last night.  The weather was beautiful and the crowd was busy.  It reminded me of the Christmas shopping season. Thanks to all the passer-bys that decided to stay for the show.  Thanks also to all my new friends and my regulars that keep me coming back.

Last night reminds me of how we all need time to unwind and be free from our worries even if it's for a few hours.  Whether it's at a night club dancing, dinner with friends or a friday evening at MOD Coffee house listening to songs you haven't heard in a while, everyone needs time to regroup after a crazy work week, a family crisis or just the everyday worries of life itself.

There is a section in the bible with a lead caption that reads:

The Gentle Mastery of Christ.
28* “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,* and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your selves. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” Matt 11:28-30

The invitation from Christ is, "Come to me".

Might seem insignificant to take Jesus up on his offer.  After all, the burden you carry isn't all that heavy a load.  If that statement were true, we wouldn't need that time away from worries, no matter how big or small.  I love the beginning caption, "The Gentle Mastery of Christ".  He doesn't command you to "Come to me..."  He's giving direction and counsel.  Like a friend would if you were in need.  Just how important were Jesus' words to his disciples, for them to write down as Jesus spoke them?  His words resound from the words of Jeremiah:

23Come aside to me, you untutored, and take up lodging in the house of instruction; 26Take her yoke upon your neck; that your mind may receive her teaching.  For she is close to those who seek her, and the one who is in earnest finds her. Jeremiah 6:16

Jesus knows we need time to unwind with friends.  We also need to spend time with him as well.
Our mind set should be that of a history buff.  Not only studying on history, but learning from it.  I wrote down this saying I have on my desk that states, "Those that do not learn from History, are destined to repeat it."  Our unwinding should be an opportunity to learn from mistakes we've made and strive to live a better life free from the pitfalls we keep falling into.

Christ invites you to come to him.  Learn from our mistakes and seek his mercy and love.  Don't assume you know what will happen if you start going to church or start praying to him.   Turn to Jesus.  Seek what is good.  Learn from him.  Find rest.

26Stand by the earliest roads, ask the pathways of old, “Which is the way to good?” and walk it; thus you will find rest for yourselves.
Sirach 51:26

Not much time to chat these days with all the prep work for the Concerts set in July.  That's a good thing.  Prep time is fun and getting to know the band members will be a new venture for us all.  The spiritual aspect will have to stay in check.  I appreciate my Adoration time on Wednesday mornings, at 1:00am.

My biggest struggle is waiting on what lies ahead.  There are so many roads to choose from.  All of them will lead me to my final destination.  The road I'm searching for is the road that is in line with the will of God.  Aren't we all?  I heard today that when God call you he leads the way.  He makes things happen out of obedience to him.  How many times have we not followed in Christs footsteps only to be disappointed on the path we have chosen.

I take comfort in seeking God first.  Knowing he has prepared a place for me both in this world and the next.

Amen!

Check out the location of one of our shows in July.  We'll post them as they line up.  Thanks for following us.

Merry Christmas 12/20/2010

Jesus is coming.
He will come to your home by way of a neighbor, a close friend or a relative, but he is coming to you.

The savior will be born.
In your heart, in your relationships, even at work.

The season of advent is coming to a close.  We have been waiting for the messiah to come.  Jesus the son of God will be born.  We will experience the newness of life in Christ.  We will see things for the first time as we have never seen before.  Suddenly we love more.  We share more.  We give more.  All because of this new birth.  We may pass it off as the spirit of Christmas, without acknowledging Christ himself, but in our hearts, without even knowing, Christ has been born.

"For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord."

CD Update 11/16/2010

I'm deciding on the ARTWORK for the CD. The front cover will have a color picture of an Oak Tree alongside a brook/stream. The back page will have a color picture of me probably holding the guitar. The inside of the cover will have lyrics and credits in black and white. This much I know.

I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS PROJECT!! AHHHHHHHHH!

From time to time I have to do that.

Thank you all for your prayers and support for this project. Thanks for keeping up with me this past year. It has been labor intense. You will not be disappointed.

God, the giver of all that is good, will continue to guide this ministry, so that it may be fruitful according to his plan. Amen.

Studio Update 09/28/2010

Studio Update - September 2010
Thanks be to God. I have four rough mixes to date. The songs sound amazing. I am thankful unto the Lord for opening this door for me, and giving me the courage to step out in faith to record this project. We are close, but not yet ready for distribution. When we receive the final mixes for all ten songs, we will be about 30-45 days from dropping the CD on ya. Concert date is pending as of this post.

Photos - Rain Chavez
A few weeks ago we were in the studio finalizing the song list. I had the honor of working with Rain Chavez from Austin, Texas. Rain is originally from my home town, Pecos, Texas. Rain took some pictures of the session and made a lasting impression on me with his amazing eye. Please keep Rain in your prayers. Check out his website here >>>www.rainchavez.com/www.rainchavez.com/BIO.html

CD Title & Video
The CD will be called "FIRM", with a title track by the same name. We are currently working ideas for this song. Once again Rain will be leading this potion of the project as the lead videographer. More on this as we move forward towards the release.

Finally
As we move forward toward the end of the recording portion, I am still needing financial assistance to press the CD. As I mentioned before I estimated $3k to 5k for a polished product. I am far from this goal, but am trusting in the Lord to open the doors as he has so far to bring this project to completion.

Please contiinue to pray for this project!

Reflection - 08/26/2010

Who I Am
I’ve been spending time planning the CD Recording Project since July of last year. It has really consumed me over the last 12 months, and I imagine from now and the time I have the CD release concert, it will be all I talk about when you see me. The anticipation is building. The excitement is catchy. The expectation towards the success of this project is great. You would expect nothing less from me when it comes to doing the Lords work.

Where I’ve Been
I was checking my voice messages at home yesterday, and noticed a call from a close friend of mine, Jason. I brought Jason in as a soundman back in the days of Sudden Impact. Eventually he became part of the music ministry. I had not heard from Jason in several years. We played a round of phone tag and eventually made contact. Jason began sharing where he was spiritually. His reading interests, and how he searched for more than what was before him. How he delved into reading and studying the Catholic faith. He referenced Fr. John Corapi, and Chesterton and we both agreed Fulton J. Sheen was an amazing theologian and surely not from this world.

Amazing Grace
As I listened to Jason, his enthusiasm and fervor for God was catchy. I am thankful he was sharing his faith with me. It lifted me up. It reminded me of the place I had not spent much time at lately. The place where all things began, evolve into and end up. It reminded me of where I need to be. I am thankful for Gods grace that I will lean into during this time of preparation for the CD release and concert. Thankful that when I seek him, I will find him. Especially thankful for the daily reminders.

So where are you these days?

How soon before you get where you need to be?

Starbucks & Studio Update - 8/24/2010

Thanks to all the fans/family/support that showed up to the last minute gig at Starbucks in Texas City on Friday. I counted 27 people. Not bad, for a four hour notice. Yes, I count how many people show up when I play. I appreciate people hanging out with me on a Friday evening when they could be somewhere else. I especially appreciate people singing along with me. That is cool. We sold several T-Shirts, so now there are more people running around with "Ben Apolinar" t-shirts. That is really, really cool. Thanks also to Kathryn who joined me on a couple of songs and did a great job as usual.

I played two new songs from the project. "FIRM" and "PATH OF LIFE". I received great comments on both after the gig. In particular, I received text and Facebook responses on 'FIRM". That's a good sign.

I have to admit it. "I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS PROJECT".

So here is the Studio update:
We are in mixing mode. What does this mean? All the recording tracks are done. Now we are in the process of placing the instruments and vocals where they belong. Sort of like a jigsaw puzzle. We know what the outcome will be, it's just a bit scattered right now. So in about 3-4 weeks we should be through. Next, we will begin on the Artwork for the CD cover and inserts, and then begin duplicating the CD's and packaging. We are far from done.

PLEASE PRAY FOR:
• Direction on what to title the debut Album.
• CD Cover/Artwork/Video direction. We are currently in touch with a film company in Austin that has volunteered their services towards this project. God is already placing people where they need to be.
• Financial support for Printing and Pressing the CD's. We need approximately 5K for this to happen. This financial need has to be met soon.
• Audition process and musicians that will be part of this ministry. We will hold auditions 30-45 days prior to the CD release in preparation for the concert and short tour to promote the CD.
• Concert venue for the CD Release. We are still considering the newly built St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church for this.
• Proper Promotions - Looking for the right promoter to help the CD release effort.
• Radio Play - That Christian Radio be open to this new music coming their way. It's not better. We aren't competing. It's just different.

Thanks again to all of you for allowing me to be a part of your lives through this music ministry.

Studio Session 7/17-18, 2010

Took a trip to the recording studio July 17th & 18th. My Daughter Kathryn & Son Benjamin helped me out either in vocals or vocal arrangements. I have to say they are pretty awesome. Their contributions are important to me. I respect their musical abilities.

So to update you on the progress of the CD project. We're about 50% complete on this. Right now we are in the process of deciding what Keyboard or Electric Guitar parts go where. Musically, the basics are solid. Bass, Rhythm Guitar, Drums, and Vocals.

So that's where we are to date. As we get close to completion, the drop date of the CD gets closer. Anticipated date is September. It may move again, but that's my best guess. I'm really getting excited about this project. Lots of prayer and hard work into getting this project off the ground. With every new addiditon to the tracks, there is new life is breathed into these songs.

Finances:

There is still a long way to go in the financing department. The next phase financially is getting the artwork and pressing the CD's in mass quantities which is about 5K. Keep the financial portion of this project in your prayers. If you would like to help us out in this project, or maybe you have the resources to press for us, then please contact me via this web site. Any talent and financial support is appreciated.

Studio In June 06/23/2010

Thanks to all of you for your prayers. We are about a third of the way through this recording project. This upcoming weekend, June 26, 2010, I'll return to the studio to do more vocal work. I am finding this to be a bit more time consuming than originally thought. This is why the projected release date has been moved back several times, and may move again. Call it a moving target. I received the final 5 backing tracks and am getting use to the arrangement. Continue to pray for this project and it's direction.

Studio Update 4/28/2010

Thanks to all of you taking the time to visit the website.

I was in San Antonio this past weekend. As many of you already know, I'm working on a solo recording project. We worked on five songs this weekend. That means lots of singing. I mean lots of singing. The day started Saturday morning at eleven a.m. with the last note sung at 9:50 p.m. Saturday night. Lead vocals can be tough when trying to deliver the song as if I were in adoration or Mass. Michael, Ron and I opened with prayer before the session.

We started with:

Alleluia
My God My God (Psalm 22)
Since My Mother’s Womb (Psalm 71)
I Surrender
You Are The Lamb Of God

I got through the first three on Saturday, then about halfway through "You Are The Lamb Of God" before I ran out of steam. We called the session and I headed back to Texas City Sunday afternoon. This recording session was unusual. I am used to walking into the studio and the producer telling me where we're going musically. This time around there is quite a bit of freedom. I am reminded that the ideas, melodies and the direction of the project have been prayed for. Amen!

I became more sure about this project as the melody lines were tweaked and every phrase delivered. The reason I say this: I doubt, I fear and I worry about the outcome at times. So to hear the project come to life, assures me of Gods hand all over this.

Thank you all for your continued prayers.

We're getting close on this.

Confirmation Retreat 04/22/2010

Baptism, the Eucharist, and the Sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the "Sacraments of Christian Initiation," whose unity must be safeguarded. It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For "by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed." (Article 2, 1285)

Friday April 16, 2010
I had a very busy weekend. Friday evening Priscilla and I spent time at the Rodeo/BBQ Cookoff in Santa Fe. The food was great as usual and the company was even better. It's hard to go somewhere and not run into someone you know. We spent time with many of our ACTS brothers & sisters there. ACTS has strengthened our Parish community. When we meet, it's like we haven't seen each other in years. The hugs are tighter, the handshakes more firm and the smiles are bigger. What is really amazing is recognizing the spirit of GOD living within us, and among us. Knowing he is active in this world leads me to believe their is hope where others find hopelessness. I am thankful for my ACTS community. The Spirit of God in them gives me strength.

Saturday April 17, 2010

My daughter Kathryn and I provided music for a Confirmation retreat at the Christian Renewal Center in Dickinson, Texas, www.retreatcentercrc.org/, with the Retreat team Cleopas and Company, www.cleopasandcompany.org/home, led by Randy Jordan & Gordie Allen. It's hard to tell how well you will gel with the retreat team, but when God is leading the retreat everything works according to his plan. There were approximately 60 people at the retreat including ten chaperones. Catechesis is key in the Catholic faith. The Catholic church teaches:

CCC 5 “Catechesis is an education in the faith of children, young people, and adults which includes especially the teaching of Christian doctrine imparted, generally speaking, in an organic and systematic way, with a view to initiating the hearers into the fullness of Christian life.

My Catholic faith is important to me. I wouldn't be the person I am today if not for my Catholic upbringing. As important as my Catholic faith has been to me, your faith should be just as important to you. Baptist, Episcopal, Lutheran, or whatever your faith, it should rank up there in the top three most important things in life. Any religion that teaches the Paschal Mystery, refering to the suffering (sometimes called the passion), death, Resurrection, and Glorification of Jesus Christ, you should strive to learn more about.

This past weekend the young people at the retreat received a recap of their faith. Something they have been a part of all of their lives. I am glad we were able to be a part of this reminder and know that on the day of their confirmation, they will have an awareness of the spirit of God at work in them.

Sunday April 18, 2010
After the mass on Sunday, we rushed out of the chapel and headed to the Episcopal Church for a concert in Friendswood, Texas. There were approximately 70 women in attendance. The group is called the ECW or Episcopal Church Women. Women of faith, women of all ages and women called to serve God. Trish Johnston was the facilitator for the afternoon and the person who invited me. How awesome to see women sharing their faith with each other. Not very different at all from St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Altar Society or Men's Club, or any other church ministry. Just people living their lives with a purpose. That purpose being, serving Christ by serving one another. That's what I witnessed at the ECW. That's what I witness at St. MOMM, and in case you haven't noticed, you will witness the same in your community when you begin searching for the Catechesis in your church. Learn about the Pascal mystery. Become familiar with your faith. Become one with the Spirit of GOD!

Confirmation II Retreat - 03/28/2010

Never underestimate the Power of God, or the people he chooses to manifest his power through.

If you hang around me long enough, you'll hear me repeat this phrase over and over. "God is Awesome". My daughter Kathryn and I were the music ministers this weekends Second Year Confirmation Retreat. After the weekend was over the students had an opportunity to share their experience of the weekend.

One girl shared how she tried everything she could in her power to keep from attending the weekend experience. A couple of hours into the retreat, and she had made friends with other people she wouldn't have, outside of the church environment. She was glad God had given her the opportunity to meet and share faith with her peers. She is glad God is a larger part of her life.

Another young man spoke about how he did not want to be there, but eventually came to the realization that everyone needs God at one point in their life or another. Throughout the weekend he realized just how far away he was from God and how now he wants to keep God as close to him as possible.

So I usually have a lesson to share after these stories. Here it is. God reminded me that these weekend experiences are his. He is in charge. I should have no expectation except to serve. When God calls and we answer, that is all that is needed. I love the lessons. It means I have a lot to learn. I smile as I write these words down.

One thing is for sure, God transforms people. and he'll use whoever says "yes" to his call. Me included.

God is Awesome!

Recording Project Update & Prayers - 3/9/2010

A couple of weeks ago we finalized the song list for the recording project. We are excited about this recording. Some songs you may be familiar with. Others are new. Ten songs were selected from approximately thirty. That was challenging. Some arrangements changed but not anything wouldn't recognize when you hear it. Probably better and more likeable. This was key in selecting Studio M for this production. We are on the same page as to the type of material to be released. "Full, active, participation" in worship is the goal.

Here is the Song List:

Since My Mothers Womb (Psalm 71)
My God My God (Psalm 22)
Alleluia
You Are The Lamb Of God
I Surrender
Firm
Breaking My Heart (A Song for Seth)
Bread From Heaven
Path Of Life (Psalm 16)
Lord Let Your Mercy Be On Us (Psalm 33)

I ask that you would pray for the following:

Song Arrangements- This is where we include other instruments such as electric guitars, orchestra strings and breaks in the song.

Vocal Sessions - Singing and getting the right emotion in the song recording is a big deal. Vocal harmonies and flurries should invite the listener to sing along without too much craziness in the vocal style. Lots of singing.

Promotions - We are putting the promo packs together. Pictures, CD's and bios for radio stations and labels shopped professionally so that everyone in the radio world would get an opportunity to hear the material and provide feedback to this sound when the CD is released. If you know someone in the radio industry or the christian market pass the word to them at that point. Keep us informed.

Concert Release Date - Looking for a concert date in August. St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal will be commissioned on July 27, 2010 by Cardinal DiNardo himself. (If you are unsure what he looks like, see the photo op in the photo section of the web page.) At this point the CD may be released prior to the concert date. That's why we need your prayers. Still unsure about this.

T-Shirts, Pre-Sale CD's and Pre-Sale Concert Tickets - Soon we will begin promotions on this. Pricing and Ticket outlets will be listed on this site as well as contact information.

Auditions - Auditions for musicians will begin before the mixing is complete.

PA - Looking for a great sound system to rent, that will enhance the full band sound at the church and still keep it Holy.

Fr. Tom Ponzini - May the Lord continue to bless him for allowing us to use the church for the concert.

Everyone Involved In This Project - Putting together this project is hard work but support has been key.
Finances - We appreciate the financial support we have received up to this point. Still a long way from our goal to cover expenses. Pray for direction & guidance.
Let us pray...

Father we thank you for the seed you planted in our hearts. Help us to recognize your call and act on upon it. We trust you will supply the needs of this recording project. May you be glorified in all we do.....in Jesus name we pray....Amen.

Studio Update - 01/09/2010

Pre-production starts Monday January 11,2010.

Pray for the recording project.

We are still in good shape for the Late/Spring Early Summer release.

Prayers & Blessings!

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament - 01/08/2010

For those not familiar with the Catholic Faith, information on the Blessed Sacrament & the Eucharist can be found at www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt2sect2chpt1art3.shtml Ref:CCC#1373-1381.

Who I Am
Today I spent time in front of the Blessed Sacrament. I found an Adoration Chapel in South Houston at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church. It's been a while since I've been to the adoration chapel. Since the beginning of construction for our new church in Texas City, the chapel while open, does not have the blessed sacrament exposed. I've missed that part of my spiritual life.

I drove to the church a few miles down the road. I used to be the music minister there several years ago when I first moved to South Texas, so I found it quickly. I walked into the entryway where all the "Prayer Accessories" are laid out. That's what I call them. "Prayer Accessories". You know, the pamphlets on "How to Pray the Rosary" and "The Chaplet of Divine Mercy", and the "Word Among Us" devotional. I made mental notes for our Chapel in Texas City, for when construction is done.

As I walked in the main Adoration Chapel I knew exactly what to expect. At least I thought I did. I caught site of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, and I fell to my knees..........and wept.........and wept.........and wept.

I remained kneeling for a while. Then moved to a pew closer to the front. Then began to Adore Christ in the Eucharist. I called him by name. The Alpha the Omega, the Beginning and the End. The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. The Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. The Messiah. The Savior.

My heart became filled with the Love that is intended for everyone. Not just for me and the few people in the chapel. Not just for the Catholics, or Episcopalians, or the Baptist, but for everyone. I can't fathom the revelation the Disciples must have received after a few days of mourning, and processing the death of their savior.

After not being around Jesus for a few days, they may have thought, all the holiness and all the plans Jesus talked about had come to a screeching halt. That is until their encounter with him in the upper room. Until they caught sight of him. Upon seeing him, I imagine they wept.........and wept.........and wept.

To be reunited with Jesus after witnessing his crucifixion, and saying goodbye to him. All that emptiness within them, suddenly filled with Jesus' love. All the sorrow suddenly filled with gladness.

Where I've Been
On December 24, 2009, My grandmother, Josefina Campos, my dad’s mom, went home to the Lord. She was 99 years of age. Driving home was a 10 hour journey. Lots of conversation about life and joking around dancing behind the wheel, singing and reminiscing about my gramma Chepa. That's what we called her. Gramma Chepa. We got to my mom’s house around 10:30 that following Sunday. Lots of chatting. Like a family reunion. When the chatting finally subsides I'm laying in bed thinking about how one day, I will be saying goodbye to the house I'm sleeping in. The house I grew up in. The place where we prayed as a family. The place where all my memories began. It didn't make me sad. Not yet.

Amazing Grace
The day of the funeral during mass, the priest said a prayer that I only caught a small section of. He began, "Lord, be with your people in their sorrow...." And that's when it hit me. Those words became a lump in my throat. I felt sorrow. I don't think I've ever recognized it as such. It felt new to me. I've been inconsolable, despaired but I can't remember referencing "Sorrow" as a feeling before. Until that day. Why Sorrow? Why not anger or depressed or any other stage of grieving?

As we walked away from the burial ground as usual the Lord revealed the cause of my sorrow. Chepa was the reason our two families spent time together. Now that she is gone chances are we will lose touch with them, only visiting during another funeral.

I believe God has a greater plan than I do. I make my assumptions based on what I know, history. He, on the other hand, is the creator of all things including history. He'll turn this around and be glorified in the process.

The good news about sorrow is that it doesn't last. As the psalmist says,

"....At dusk weeping comes for the night; but at dawn there is rejoicing." Psalm 30:6.

The Lord has a great plan for us all. For those in sorrow, joy. For those who cry out, the Lord will rescue. For those rejoicing, strength will abound.

Your revelation can be found in the Blessed Sacrament....find it.

Prepare for His Arrival 12/23/2009

Who I Am:
So I've been getting ready for this recording project. Working through some musical arrangements in my head and how I think these songs should be presented. Vocally, getting my voice ready for long sessions and concerned about hitting the right pitch, correct phrasing etc.

Trying to decide which songs should be on the project and which will get cut. Decisions that will be important when the time comes. These decisions require my attention. All my attention.

Where I've Been:
A couple of Sunday's ago our Priest, Fr. Tom Ponzini, mentioned getting prepared for the coming of the Christ. Preparing our hearts for his arrival. How beautiful a time this can be and how wonderful God's plan is for us. His birth is a constant reminder thoroughout the year that we are loved. No other message should be so important.

To PREPARE is what sticks in my head. I have been so focused in preparing for the outcome of this project, that I have not made time to prepare my heart for his coming. I am thankful for those who point us in the right direction. Our Pastors, Priests, Parents, Brothers, Sisters, people on the street. Whoever brings us to the realization of where we are, and where we need to be.

Mostly I'm thankful I did not miss this opportunity for Christ to be born In my heart once again and renew his spirit within me. The manger inside me must be ready for his arrival.

Amazing Grace:
It's interesting that God would have his son born in a cave. I watched a documentary on the cave similar to the one where Jesus was born. The entrances are small. You have to bow to enter the cave. It is only fitting that GOD would choose a cave for a birthplace. Everyone who enters in, should have to "bow before the king".

Jesus could have been born at the Inn, but no one would have noticed him there. It would have been another baby being born in Bethlehem. People were too busy carrying on with their lives to notice the Christ child born before their eyes. Too busy socializing, too busy living life.

Very much like today. We become so involved in our own lives that we miss the opportunity to share in a great reminder. The reminder that God sent his son to give us hope. Hope for a better life. Hope for a better future. Hope for you. Hope for all.

See you in Church this Christmas!

God's Generosity & Plan 11/29/2009

Emails have been sent out promoting the website. The response has been pretty awesome. Lots of comments from "It's about time you recorded a full Project" to "When does Pre-Sale begin". There have been several of you that have been generous not only with your words, but also with your treasure. Thanks to all of you.

All of this generosity and goodness comes from within you. I'm talking about the Spirit of God received at baptism. Yes, God's spirit lives in you. Every perfect word of love and action that is good, comes from the living God. He nurtures us through each other, and our love for each other grows through this connectedness.

As I read the emails and comments, I keep thinking how God has worked through this ministry and the recording hasn't even begun. This makes me put my trust in him even more, knowing he has already begun his work through this ministry.

Through faith, I know God will use this music in a powerful way. I can't see the plan or know how long it will be before I see the results I desire. All I know is I must keep doing whatever it takes to keep my faith strong. Pray, Sing, Blog, Send out Emails, and share my faith in God, as often as necessary. This is what I'm called to do for now. When the plan changes you will read about it here.

.....honored to serve..

02/08/2011

Had a busy weekend in my Hometown, Pecos, Texas.  It was great to see so many of the people that helped build my spiritual foundation.  As usual, I was received with open arms, lots of hugs, prayers and love from my Pecos family.  I love hanging out with them.  The priest, Fr. Fabian, has a way with his parishioners.  I like his style.  He's the "tell it like it is" kinda guy, admonishing the parishioners in the hopes of moving them into the next step of their spirituality.  At the same time he included himself in the admonition as he shared
